๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿ‘—๐Ÿ“Reactivate Your Passion; Then Go Stuff Some Mushrooms ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ

I’m here to describe the fabulous event I went to on Saturday in Decatur! It was called Tour of Kitchens. A friend of mine asked me if I was free that day and surprised me! She came over, we had white chocolate chip waffles, grits and bacon and then rode out the the event. I had read the link she sent to me but still didn’t quite understand or know what to expect. I just knew we would be voting and looking at kitchens. Not sad, not sad at all. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Upon arrival, we were greeted by 2 women, who gave us our information packets, a voting card and a pair of shoe covers. When walking into the home, you begin a self-guided tour; able to take pictures of the home and whatever funky or unique design and decor of your choice! The first home was so cozy…immediately to the right of the front door ย was a formal dining room with a fully stocked and polished china cabinet. Totally rocked my socks off, it was so welcoming. I wanted to pull out the chair and begin eating! Directly across from there was a room setup as a lounge area decorated with pink, white and green accents! There was a fabulous pink button couch and a love seat with a print that looked like it could also be a $1,200 shoe! Clearly, I was in love…I thought we were done and had the kitchen scene to scope, but entering it got even better: THERE WAS FOOD!!! Cooked by chefs! And we got to vote for them! There were two high school teams cooking for a chance to win scholarships to Le Cordon Bleu. So. You mean to tell me we get to tour beautifully designed homes, eat DELICIOUS foods AND support students, architects and a woman’s league? YES PLEASE. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›

Now I cannot fully describe the first teams dish; I feel like I’d be doing them a disservice by misspelling or leaving out a portion or sauce of the appetizer. I will say the main ingredients were a piece of shrimp wrapped in a seasoned croissant over a pineapple salsa with the perfect blend of spices and preparation. The flavors danced on my tongue until we got to the other teams kitchen. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

The second home we went to did not have food. (I became openly greedy- one cannot give me one of the best appetizers I’ve had in my LIFE without expecting me to inquire if the next home is where the other team is cooking. HA!) As the flavors of the first teams creation carried me through the doors of house number two, I found myself in heaven: standing before one of the most BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED HOMES I have ever seen. Ever. And they had the nerve to show the before and after pictures…AHHH! I love seeing another’s work come to life. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Live in it, I could! High up on the list of dream homes, this one had it all! A library/office with the books so high up, you really will need the installed ladder! A dining room so elegant and formal, with seating for 10 (yes, I said ten.) An open bar and a kitchen worth stealing my breath away. Deep sinks, an organized pantry with built-in ladder and an island that could host a party without ever leaving the kitchen. Then if you wanted to go outside, you choose either the screened in patio with antique fireplace or you could go outside to the step down pool and BBQ pit. Anyone who enjoys entertaining would love this home. Clearly I did. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

On the drive to the last home, I had to bring up the fact I could STILL taste the food we had! It was outstanding. Sure didn’t want a piece of gum or mint; I wanted more food! ๐Ÿ˜› When we walked in, we both agreed it was blend of retro and futuristic design. Bold colors, shag carpets, window seats and white walls with original artwork on display. As I went to grab information on the builder, I was pleasantly surprised with the featured entree: Blackened Salmon, Yellow Rice, Chilled Sweet Potatoes and Mango Salsa. After realizing its
deliciousness, I ignored all chances to mingle because all I wanted to do in that moment was scrape my plate without judgement. I exited into the family room surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, allowing me access to view people mingling in the outside area, complete with a mini pond. Perfect for any nature lover. ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒท

Everything about this day had me floating! Good company, top-notch food, talented architects showcasing their work in the gorgeous homes and supporting the youth as they pursue their dreams. I experienced everything I love within 2-3 hours! Believe me or not, I did do a lot of mingling, I just haven’t mastered how to maintain low tones when attending functions serving food so good that not only fills me up and makes me thankful for food, but inspires me to the point of shedding a tear or two. Grateful, grateful grateful. So tonight, I celebrated by making one of my favorite appetizers, stuffed mushrooms. Recipe to followโ˜บ

If life is lived on getting what you give, then allow me to plant visions of that sensational vibe everywhere and any chance I get. Dream big and smile bigger.๐Ÿ˜„
